Douglas Forsyth is married to Anne Forsyth and they have 4 married children. He matriculated from Northlands Boys High School, Durban, KwaZulu Natal in 1973. He graduated from Rand Afrikaans University with a B.A. in Education and taught at Krugersdorp High School for four years. He graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master of Theology (Christian Education) in 1988 and has served as pastor at Weltevreden Chapel, an Independent Bible Church since 1987. He graduated from University of Pretoria with a Ph D. in Practical Theology in 2005 and has served on the board and taught at ICBM since 2000
